In A World Of Chaos Plus Inflation – Can Lead To All Sorts Of Stress
Take A Look For Yourself
High inflation can indeed lead to stress, which in turn can have damaging effects on health. According to a survey conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of the American Psychological Association (APA), around three-quarters of adults in the U.S. reported experiencing health impacts due to stress, including headaches and fatigue, in the prior month. The survey also found that high inflation was reported as a source of stress for the vast majority of adults, with the majority also expressing stress related to the economy and money.
Chronic stress, such as that caused by financial uncertainty due to high inflation, can have detrimental effects on both mental and physical health. The American Psychological Association states that chronic stress can lead to a variety of physical and mental health problems, including anxiety, depression, heart disease, high blood pressure, sleep problems, weight gain, and impaired memory and concentration.
Furthermore, a study published in JAMA Network Open found that rising inflation has become a significant source of stress, especially among women and those who were socioeconomically more vulnerable. The unequal distribution of inflation stress may exacerbate inequalities in health.
